Initial Short Film Ideas

I came up with short film ideas in a variety of different genres that we could consider for our final project.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning- An old woman lays in bed listening to the sounds of the city floating through her window.
Middle- To compensate for her loneliness, she makes up scenarios in her head that fit with the sounds she is hearing. The scenarios differ in style from flashbacks to contemporary, stylistic scenes, to old fashioned movie style.
End- It becomes apparent the woman has died, but it is shown she continues to live on in her scenarios.

This film takes inspiration from Hitchcock's 'Rear Window' and could fit into the romance genre as the flashbacks would contain memories of her and a past lover. It could also fall into fantasy and stylistic genres.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning- A woman meets a man at a café and begins a friendship with him that she hopes will lead on to something else.
Middle- She finds a note he slipped into her bag that she misconstrues as a love note. The note reads something along the lines of  'I'm going to take you out tomorrow, you won't know when I arrive but it will go out with a bang. Try not to scream'. The man's note hints at his intentions of killing and eating the woman but has a double meaning.
End- The woman and the man meet, although the woman is not shown being killed it is hinted. OR there is a twist and it turns out the woman is actually the killer.

This film could fall in to the horror genre, however the reliance on implication
and lack of gore suggests it may be more appropriately placed in the thriller genre.

                                         -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning- A child gets ready for school. Distracted, they don't notice their pet crawling into their school bag. Scooping the bag up and jumping into the car they prepare for a normal day at school, (or so they think).
Middle- The bag is left alone in the cloakroom and the pet escapes, causing havoc all around the school. At the end of the day it reaches the child's classroom and the child recognizes their pet.
End- The child puts the pet back in the bag. The problem is resolved and peace is restored.

This film would fall into a children's genre, it would have elements of comedy. I think it would be rated U under the BBFC's guidelines. The
film has a standard 3 part narrative, where a problem arrises and then is solved at the end.
